An exhibition where you don’t have to be quiet or to refrain from touching the pieces. A showroom where you have more than thirty guides, each of them architect of their own design. A pop-up show with no sale, but full of inspiration and that makes you see Romanian design in a different light. This is what The White Night for Product Creators and Designers is, and its sixth edition takes place on November 25th 2017 at the University of Architecture and Urbanism Ion Mincu in Bucharest.

The designed product has widened its horizon and has acquired a new status, that of a work of art – an art that we can wear, that embellishes us and that we can use in our everyday life. Here is what we find in this space of dialogue, of artistic experiment, of interaction with product and content creators, and it becomes easier for us to understand the value of an author designed product, discovering the making process and the concept behind, but also to integrate it in our lifestyle.

The event has a double mission: to educate the public on the tendencies of Romanian contemporary design product – which is just as unique and valuable as international art – and to clarify the status of a work of art: an assumed choice that represents us.

This sixth edition of the White Night for Product Creators and Designers is dedicated to Romanian cultural tradition and its many ways of adapting it to contemporary life. Over twenty Romanian participants, chosen by the event’s official jury, and the students selected by the University of Architecture and Urbanism’s internal committee bring in front of their public five pieces each, made in the last year: jewellery, accessories, furniture and decorative objects. Assamblage Contemporary Jewelry School will also be involved in this event, presenting a part of the jewellery exhibition Camera Lucida.

We continue our tradition of keeping the public up to date and creating a long term interest: the exhibited items are not for sale, since we believe that choosing Romanian art and design must be an assumed choice and not a moment’s impulse. Therefore, we facilitate interaction and we invite all persons interested in contemporary art and design to meet the artists and designers, to admire their works and – why not – to initiate collaborations and to form partnerships in this space open to promoting Romanian creative industries.

The event will take place between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. and entry is free.

The White Night for Product Creators and Designers project is realized by the team of Atelierul de Creație Association, a non-profit organization that has been supporting for more than seven years the alternative approaches to presenting design and art works in new spaces of culture consumption. Its merit has been confirmed by the inclusion of this project among the finalists at the Civil Society Gala, Art and culture and Impact sections, the Elle Decoration Gala, and the financing received from the AFCN and the Ministry of Culture. Moreover, its volunteers have been finalists at the National Volunteer Gala, Art and culture and section.

This edition represents a public-private partnership: the organizer – Atelierul de Creație Association – transforms the exhibit hall of the University of Architecture and Urbanism Ion Mincu into a space suitable for presenting the latest author pieces created in Romania.
