DAZZLE ME! is this year’s theme for the jewelry selection. The Competition is at its 8th edition and each year hundreds of designers compare their ideas in an international environment. The selected projects will be exhibited in Venice in October 2021. The theme Dazzle me! is a subtheme to the main theme of this year’s Venice Design Week 12th edition, which is DESIGN x TUTTI.

Participants will be asked to interpret the feeling of enchantment and dazzlement through jewelry creation. The contest aims to reveal and highlight the power of allurement each craftsmanship bears and its pure estheticism. The jewels reveal their captivating nature and become part of the mesmerizing energy shared and enjoyed both by creators and receivers. The ploy with light and color in these pieces of jewelry creates a pleasant and yet immersing atmosphere. Capturing the attention and surprising those who look at it “straight in the eye;  a challenge to play with light, colors, reflections; a clear urge, with an exclamation point,  a piece of jewelry that can DAZZLE anyone.
The competition is open to any creative person of all ages, many professionals enter the competition to have the possibility to exhibit in Venice. All entries must be received by Venice Design Week by the 28th of June 12:00 (CET). The competition is promoted by Venice Design Week with the collaboration of the Association Contemporary Jewel AGC (GioielloContemporaneo.it), Cà Pisani Design Hotel, Autor – Bucharest, OhMyBlue Gallery, Oona Gallery, Bini Gallery, Creativity Oggetti, 16metriquadri contemporary jewelry, and Vicenza Jewellery.
‘The jury is composed of Maria Rosa Franzin – Contemporary Jewelry Association AGC, Anna Schetelich -OONA Galerie Berlin, Elena Rizzi- OHMYBLUE Gallery Venice, Roberto Zanon architect and Professor of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts, Valeria Accornero – journalist and blogger, Marianna Serandrei – the owner of Ca’ Pisani Design Hotel.

Mihaela Ion este manager cultural cu o experienţă de peste 17 ani în cadrul industriei creative şi culturale româneşti şi cu un doctorat în istorie. Pe lângă educaţia universitară dedicată istoriei artei, Mihaela s-a specializat în domeniul managementului cultural în Londra şi Paris prin bursele acordate acesteia, de către Fundaţia Gabriela Tudor şi Ministerul Culturii din Franţa. Este co-fondatoare a Revistei Atelierul (Asociaţia Atelierul de Creaţie) şi a proiectelor generate de această comunitate internaţională: "Creative Night Talks", "Noaptea albă a creatorilor şi designerilor de produs". Este evaluatoare independentă pentru diferiţi cofinanţatori publici. Curatoriază expoziţii în diferite galerii de artă şi spaţii de consum de artă, din România şi străinătate. Este International Board Member AICA (Asociaţia Internaţională a Criticilor de Artă) şi membră a departamentului de Digital Strategies a aceleiaşi asociaţii. https://mihaelaion.com/
